Chapter 139: Toward the Tree on That Hill

After Eren's death, the Titans vanish and the transformed Eldians regain human form, while his former comrades recall his visits in the paths; Armin remembers Eren confiding his motives and his love for Mikasa. Armin mourns his friend while Mikasa takes Eren's head to bury it beneath the tree on the hill, and Ymir Fritz, freed by Mikasa's choice, disappears. Armin and the others present themselves to the Marleyan army as Eren's killers and, years later, travel as peace ambassadors to Paradis, which has become a military power under the Yeagerists. Mikasa visits Eren's grave and a bird rewraps her scarf; the pages added in volume 34 show her later life, Paradis's destruction centuries later and a boy discovering the tree.
