Chapter 21: Opening the Gate

After Sonny and Bean's killing, the trainees' maneuvering gear is inspected without finding the culprit, and Erwin asks Eren who he thinks the enemy is. Before the 104th, Erwin explains the mission to reach Eren's basement in Shiganshina and warns that most could die on their first expedition. Many leave, but Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Connie, Sasha, Reiner, Bertolt, Christa and Ymir join the Survey Corps. A month later, the Corps departs from Karanes on the 57th expedition beyond the walls.
