Battle of Trost
Five years after Shiganshina, the Colossal Titan reappears and breaches Trost's gate. The newly graduated cadets of the 104th are trapped in the district and suffer heavy casualties. Eren is devoured, but emerges as a Titan and his power is discovered. Commander Pixis uses him to plug the breach with a giant boulder, and humanity wins its first victory.

How it unfolded
The breach
The Colossal destroys Trost's outer gate and vanishes at once. The cadet squads form the vanguard and are massacred; Eren loses a leg and is devoured while saving Armin.
The siege of the supply depot
Out of gas, the cadets are cut off. An unknown Titan attacking other Titans—Eren—clears the way, and Armin devises the tactic to retake the depot.
Eren exposed
Eren emerges from a Titan's nape. The Garrison considers him a threat and is about to execute him until Armin convinces Pixis.
The boulder operation
Eren, protected by Pixis's elite, carries a boulder and seals the breach. The newly arrived Survey Corps clears out the Titans left inside.
The truth about Marco
Marco did not die by chance: he overheard Reiner and Bertholdt talking about being Titans, and they, with Annie, took his ODM gear and left him to die.
